Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin Is Bringing 2,000 Jobs to the Austin Area

Jeff Bezos' space company, Blue Origin, is making a massive move in Central Texas.
The company announced plans for Constellation Park, a 1.3-million-square-foot aerospace manufacturing campus in Hutto, just 22 miles northeast of Austin.
The numbers:
$650 million in estimated investment, according to the City of Hutto
1.3 million square feet of manufacturing space
2,000+ manufacturing and related jobs planned over the next decade
The new campus will focus on something different from the rockets and lunar landers Blue Origin is best known for: satellites and space-based communications.
What will they build?
Constellation Park will serve as a production hub for several of Blue Origin's major technology programs:
TeraWave: A satellite communications network designed to deliver high-speed connectivity to businesses, data centers, and governments anywhere on Earth.
Quartz: A ground-based communications network supporting satellites in low Earth orbit.
Satellite hardware: Solar arrays, avionics, telecommunications equipment, and other components used in space systems.
Blue Origin says its TeraWave network is designed to deliver speeds of up to 6 terabits per second, supporting customers that require massive amounts of reliable connectivity.
Why Hutto?
The new facility will be located along Highway 79, where Hutto has been attracting major investments in advanced manufacturing and technology.
Blue Origin is joining a growing regional industrial ecosystem that includes companies like Tesla and semiconductor equipment supplier ASML. The project also comes with a significant public investment. Texas has approved an $18.17 million Enterprise Fund grant tied to the expansion.
Beyond manufacturing, Blue Origin has committed to working with Hutto ISD to create paid internships and career-training opportunities for local students interested in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
The company already employs more than 550 people across Texas, with operations dating back to its West Texas launch site established in 2006. The new Hutto campus represents another major expansion of that footprint.
For Central Texas, the significance goes beyond 2,000 new jobs.
Between Amazon's robotics investment, the region's growing defense-tech sector, and now Blue Origin's satellite manufacturing campus, Austin is increasingly becoming a place where some of the world's most advanced technologies are built.
