Austin's Fluxco Raises $26M to Fix AI's 80,000-Pound Bottleneck

Fluxco raised $26 million to modernize how companies find, purchase, and manage electrical transformers.
The Austin-based company was founded by former investor Brian Tochman after he repeatedly saw energy and infrastructure projects delayed by transformer shortages.
Transformers are one of the least visible but most important parts of the power grid.
They regulate electrical voltage, making it possible to safely deliver power to everything from homes and factories to semiconductor plants and massive AI data centers.
The problem is they also weigh up to 80,000 pounds and take several years to develop.
Companies could invest nearly $7 trillion into data-center infrastructure through 2030, but none of those facilities can operate without the equipment required to actually connect them to the grid.
Fluxco's platform combines:
- AI-assisted technical specifications
- Competitive bids from a network of transformer manufacturers
- Pricing and delivery-time comparisons
- Procurement, production, and delivery management
- Ongoing servicing and project support
The long-term vision is to turn a slow, fragmented purchasing process into a modern industrial marketplace. Instead of spending months contacting manufacturers and comparing complicated proposals, customers can manage the entire process through one platform.
Fluxco has already processed orders for more than 1,000 transformers across 34 projects and generated approximately $30 million in orders within its first four months.
Austin is adding data centers, semiconductor factories, energy infrastructure, and other large industrial projects that will require enormous amounts of electricity.
Those projects can have the land, financing, construction crews, and technology ready, and still sit idle while waiting for a transformer.
