Austin Named America's No. 1 Boomtown for the Third Straight Year

Austin keeps outperforming other major U.S. metros when it comes to population growth, housing construction, and new business formation.
The numbers:
- No. 1 boomtown among the 50 largest U.S. metros
- No. 1 for housing-unit growth at 3.4%
- No. 1 for growth in new business applications at 11.3%
- No. 3 for the share of residents who recently moved from another county, state, or country at 17.5%
- No. 5 for population growth at 3.1%
- No. 2 nationally for business and economic growth
- 3.7% GDP growth
- Third consecutive year Austin has ranked No. 1 overall
LendingTree ranked metros across three categories: people and housing, work and earnings, and business and economy, using federal data from the Census Bureau, BLS, and BEA. The latest analysis compares 2023 with 2024.
